Sub-module 6A, page 5
You are evaluating exposure to hexane to an adult via crop contamination. The adult's bean crop has 1 mg / kg of hexane. You are interested here in the non-carcinogenic effects of hexane.
First evaluate the parameters for the formula:
C = is given, 1 mg / kg
CR = is the contact rate. For now, let us assume the adult eats 0.5 kg of beans each week. What is the Ingestion Rate? (Look back at the definition if you like.) Then calculate. You should have got
EF = is the exposure frequently, we assume that beans from this source are only available 30 days. So what is the EF .
ED = is the exposure duration. A life time of eating beans. Although you and I will live much longer, what is the assumed lifetime .
BW = is the body weight. Do you remember the default adult body weight .
AT = Averaging time. This would be 30 days /year x 70 years.
So:
So crunch the numbers and find the Intake Rate, then hit
